Maren Morris is not afraid to burn the bridge with country music. Following a year of publicly calling out ignorance and hypocrisy in her community, the Grammy-nominated musician is letting the world stage know where her soul is at. In the style of short films directed by Jason Lester, viewers walk alongside Morris as she tells her story.
Both videos released in conjunction with her latest EP debut convey Maren's final response to a genre that once welcomed her with open arms. These days, the very mouth that made her famous is criticized and ostracized for simply speaking out and upholding her morals. To that, I say, "Good riddance!" Maren Morris, you are a legend, you are appreciated.
"The Tree" and "Get The Hell Out Of Here" are quite possibly the most beautifully written pieces that come at the best of times, during a period of transitions. As an astrology girly myself, I speak on behalf of plenty of folks who are also feeling the push to get out of their comfort zones or relationships that are hindering our growth.
The stars are talking, both literally and figuratively.
Her EP, 'The Bridge,' is just a taste of what's to come under Columbia Records.
Apparently, through the grapevine of social media, fans and new listeners alike are tuning in and are very excited to see where Morris' journey takes her. There's no doubt in my mind that the talented singer-songwriter will thrive outside of country music.
